Weavers Way Co-op is looking for an energetic, creative and experienced individual to be the Assistant Manager of the Produce department in our Ambler store. We are excited to have this opportunity available for the right candidate.

As the Assistant Produce Manager, you’re integral to the entire operation. You know about the brands, have good relationships with vendors, and have an eye for what the next big seller will be. Customers know your name because you have gone above and beyond to offer excellent service. You work with your manager to find new ways to streamline processes and come up with new ideas. Staff can depend on you to manage, engage and listen. You like chatting with all kinds of folks. You know the definitions of the words "local" and "sustainable," and have a love and knowledge of produce. Last, but not least, you’re in this role because you were looking for a challenge with a company full of dedicated staff who do awesome things.

Requirements:

The Assistant Produce Manager is responsible for supporting the manager to ensure successful day-to-day operations of the Produce department. The management of inventory/product and attention to maintaining a local competitive position are essential. Development and training of staff is key, as is a keen ability to manage, communicate, and motivate others.

This position requires focus on customer service as top priority. Customer requests/complaints are to be addressed quickly and effectively —making it right is what counts. Previous experience with sales and strategic thinking is a must. The Assistant Produce Manager must always be seeking new ways to increase sales, bring in ethical, quality product, and market goods. Attaining margin and sales goals for the department is key. They must be able to think day-to-day and organically into the future, and serve as an advocate of our co-op principles. Previous management experience in a retail environment is highly preferred.

This is a full-time hourly position, based on a five-day work week, days/time TBD. We have an excellent benefits package including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick time, retirement plan and employee discount.

Founded in 1973, Weavers Way is a community-owned natural grocer with stores in Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill. In addition to our stores, we run a market farm in the Awbury Arboretum, a CSA farm partnership with Saul High School, our own community newspaper, and a non-profit that emphasizes food and nutrition education. We operate based on a triple bottom line philosophy that considers our community and environment in all of our decisions.
