Weavers Way Wellness: Living with Cancer

Monday, September 25, 2017 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

This workshop will discuss how yoga, diet and herbal medicine can strengthen your mental and physical health and support self care both during and after treatment. This workshop will be led jointly by Wendy Romig, a Licensed Clinical Nutritionist, and Michelle Stortz, certified yoga therapist specializing in yoga for cancer and chronic illness. We will discuss how nutrition, herbal support, yoga and meditation can lessen the effects of chemo and radiation, rebuild and maintain immune defenses, increase energy levels, and aid with healing in both mind and body. Open to cancer survivors and patients, as well as caretakers. We will close the workshop with a guided meditation.

Wendy Romig specializes in functional nutrition and herbalism. She sees clients for a wide range of health concerns through her practice, Sage Integrative Health Center.

Michelle Stortz is a certified yoga therapist specializing in yoga for cancer and chronic illness. She works in numerous settings in the Philadelphia area including Fox Chase Cancer Center, the Cancer Support Community of Philadelphia, Jefferson University Hospital, Temple University Hospital, the Abramson Cancer Center through Pennsylvania Hospital at Old Pine Community Center and Unite for Her. Her teaching is augmented by her studies in meditation, Buddhism, contemporary dance and somatic practices. She leads classes, retreats and private one-on-one sessions.
