Weavers Way Workshop: Brew Your Own Kombucha 101

Saturday, December 16, 2017 - 3:00pm to 4:30pm

Kombucha is a fermented drink that's made by brewing tea together with sugar and then letting the mother (also known as the SCOBY, which stands for "symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast," or mushroom) do the work of turning that sweet liquid into a fizzy, carbonated treat. The result is a fermented beverage full of plenty of things that are good for you.

Nowadays you see more and more kombucha in stores, but it is so easy, inexpensive and healthful to make at home. This workshop will give you all you need to know about making your own kombucha at home.

The program will be taught by Weavers Way member Aaron Mittica. Registration is $5, and all attendees will be provided with a $5 gift card to Weavers Way Coop at the end of the program that they can use to purchase materials needed for brewing and storing their own batch of 'buch.
