Working Member Workshop: How Shiatsu Complements Western Medicine

Thursday, July 27, 2017 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Shiatsu means "Chi Pressure," and has origins in both Chinese and Japanese traditions. Using acupressure on acupuncture points can have the same effect as acupuncture.

During our workshop, we will discuss how these points are used, how they work and what using them can do for us. We will break down the differences of allopathic or western medicine and the traditions of Oriental medical theory. We talk about how the body works, how this effects our immune system and our ability to overcome disease and other ailments. After this discussion, we will either learn Do-In (doe-een, traditional Japanese self-healing massage) or we will practice some qi gong.

This workshop will be led by Weavers Way member Robert Sprinkle. Robert has been a practicing Shiatsu practitioner for the past 10 years. He studied at the International School of Shiatsu in Bucks County and has practiced both in Philadelphia and the Los Angeles area.
