Ever wonder why Weavers Way is called Weavers Way? Was there an old weavers studio in the space? Is it supposed to reflect some cosmic connection--the weaving of people and food into a beautiful whole?
In fact, you'll have to go back 160 years for the story--long before our coop was a glimmer in someone's eye. Click here for more.

Committed to the Coop Way
Cooperatives exist in virtually every aspect of life in America, from billion dollar electric and agricultural co-ops to childcare co-ops consisting of a handful of friends. Cooperative businesses create hundreds of thousands of jobs and generate billions of dollars in income that supports their communities and a broad spectrum of worthy causes.
Weavers Way is one of over 5,000 food cooperatives in the country, ranging in size from tiny buying clubs to chains of co-op supermarkets. Together, these food co-ops serve more than three million Americans.
Food cooperatives have been at the forefront of many of the most important issues impacting the food Americans eat, including unit pricing, nutritional labeling, the establishment and protection of organic standards, genetically modified foods, and the importance of food that is locally grown. Weavers Way is proud of that tradition, and committed to joining our fellow co-ops in promoting the values that define us.
