Community Relief Concert Series: Deb Callahan Blues Band

Sunday, October 4, 2020 - 5:00pm to 7:00pm

The live-streaming Community Relief Concert Series has moved to Awbury Arboretum so we can accommodate a safely distanced and masked live audience in the big tent in back of the Cope Mansion. The shows are a continuation of the Community Relief Concert Series, sponsored by Weavers Way Co-op, which was originally a live-stream only series initiated by Barry Wahrhaftig of the Hot Club of Philadelphia. The goal was to help musicians and non-players impacted by the COVID-19 shutdown. A portion of each show's proceeds is sent to local charities, including Philabundance and Jazz Bridge so far.

This week's performer is the Deb Callahan Blues Band. “Deb Callahan is an exceptional blues singer who displays a deep appreciation of American roots music. Many of Deb Callahan’s compositions tell stories and have profound meaning. On her new release, Sweet Soul on Blue Pearl Records, Callahan delivers a knock-out Blues punch securing her place among the genre’s finest vocalists and songwriters” — Randall Parrish/Vivascene Music Magazine. The band also features Garry Lee (bass), Alan James (guitar), and Tom Walling (drums).

This show is co-sponsored by Mount Airy Violins & Bows, and the designated charity is Play On Philly, which provides music instruction to underserved kids.

Parking on site. Tickets are $25, available through Awbury Arboretum's site.

If you can't attend but would still like to contribute, you can donate to the series and/or buy a ticket to help cover the costs of the shows. To donate, visit the Community Relief Concert Series GoFundMe page.
