Community Relief Concert Series: Ensemble Novo

Sunday, August 23, 2020 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm

The live-streaming Community Relief Concert Series is moving to Awbury Arboretum so we can accommodate a safely distanced and masked live audience in the big tent in back of the Cope Mansion. The shows are a continuation of the Community Relief Concert Series, sponsored by Weavers Way Co-op, which was originally a live-stream only series initiated by Barry Wahrhaftig of the Hot Club of Philadelphia. The goal was to help musicians and non-players impacted by the COVID-19 shutdown. A portion of each show's proceeds is sent to local charities, including Philabundance and Jazz Bridge so far.

This week's show features Ensemble Novo, the brainchild of Tom Moon, best-selling author and former Philadelphia Inquirer music critic who currently contributes to NPR’s “All Things Considered.” Inspired by the music of Brazil, the group creates a spacious, welcoming sound.

Parking on site. Tickets are $20, available through Awbury Arboretum's site.

If you can't attend but would still like to contribute, you can donate to the series and/or buy a ticket to help cover the costs of the shows. To donate, visit the Community Relief Concert Series GoFundMe page.
