Invisible Cities: Photographs from Latin America

Tuesday, October 12, 2021 - 6:30pm to 7:30pm

In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, we proudly welcome scholar and photographer Nicholas Wynia for this online presentation. Join Nic on a journey through Latin America using his photographs and travel stories.

Nic's body of work spans over a decade and showcases his travel in Latin America. The photographs explore the themes of conquest, colonization, and modernity in Latin America. By following these somewhat arbitrary routes the photographer encounters both major urban areas and remote rural towns. Traveling these 16 century routes used by Spanish conquistadors such as Pizarro, Cortes, and Orellana the work focuses on the clash of European and indigenous cultures and the society that has been created from this meeting.

This online presentation will be held on Tuesday 10/12 from 6:30-7:30pm over Zoom
