Black Walnut Natural Dye workshop at The Farm at Awbury Arboretum
Come and learn to use black walnut dye with Weavers Way farmer Brigitte! The Farm at Awbury Arboretum has an abundance of black walnut trees, a native tree of the Eastern U.S. These trees drop nuts encased in fragrant, tough green hulls in the late summer and early fall. These hulls are rich in tannins, which make them great for dying. We will have a pot of dye made from Awbury black walnuts and some fabric and yarn scraps to experiment with. We will also have some black walnut ink to draw and write with. Bring something to dye or experiment with the materials we have, or just stop by to learn more about the farm. Drop by anytime between 10:00-4:00pm
