Introductory Programming Class for Weaver’s Way with Matt Zipin

Join us to dabble in a fun introduction to programming! Matt Zipin will lead this two part course and will cover the basics of computer programming using Python, the world’s most popular programming language.  Matt will cover in the course how to write your programs, debug programs, use examples as a starting point, use the print and input commands, as well as simple mathematical calculations, create and use random numbers (makes things fun!), use and manipulate variables etc.

No experience is necessary or expected, but if you have a background in programming, we can easily accommodate you.  We’ll have more sophisticated challenges for experienced folks. You can use almost any computer to begin your programming journey.  Come join us–it will be fun and empowering! This class is appropriate for people ages 8-99.

Matt Zipin taught programming and robotics at Germantown Friends School for over 30 years.  He recently retired but can still remember a few things.  He taught mostly high schoolers, but has also worked with kids as young as 6. He remembers when Weaver’s Way had only one store.
