Weavers Way Co-op has switched the electricity and natural gas services for all its stores to The Energy Co-op, a local, member-owned nonprofit cooperative providing renewable energy options to homes and businesses throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.

“With this partnership, Weavers Way can strengthen the local cooperative economy while also directing its resources toward an organization deeply committed to expanding green energy,” said Jon Roesser, General Manager of Weavers Way.

Weavers Way has long supported renewable energy, and the move to The Energy Co-op represents another opportunity to “walk the walk” by directing member dollars toward a fellow local cooperative with shared values. Moreover, The Energy Co-op is unique in that it only offers renewable electricity, unlike many energy companies that have renewables alongside fossil-fuel-sourced power offerings.

The partnership directly supports one of Weavers Way’s Ends: “Weavers Way Cooperative Association exists to provide commercial and community services for the greater good of its members and community, to champion the cooperative model, and to strengthen the local economy.”

The Energy Co-op enables homes and businesses to invest in 100% local renewable electricity and 100% renewable natural gas and support renewable energy progress. Choosing one of their national or Pennsylvania-sourced electricity products provides an accessible way to divest from fossil fuels and make a real difference with their energy choice. In 2025, The Energy Co-op reports that its membership collectively avoided 3,718 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e)—more than 8 million pounds of carbon emissions.

Like Weavers Way, The Energy Co-op is owned by its members. When customers switch to The Energy Co-op, they become member owners with a voice in how the organization operates. Members can vote for the Board of Directors and governing bylaws, help shape energy programs, participate in educational initiatives, and engage with a network of community-powered changemakers.

The Energy Co-op also works with partner organizations to educate members about energy conservation, energy efficiency, energy justice, and ways to support renewable energy progress more broadly.
