Working Member Hours Now Cap at 12 for Households of 2 or More

Working membership is optional, but by completing six workshare hours for a household consisting of one adult or twelve hours for households of two or more adults, you can get 5% off at the Co-op year-round! Working members built our Co-op more than 50 years ago and began a tradition that remains integral to our culture. Working members contribute mightily to running the Co-op. Being a working member is a great way to engage in Co-op operations and connect with staff, other members and shoppers, while experiencing a true sense of ownership. Members can also volunteer with our community partners for their working member hours.

Weaving a Bountiful Harvest with Mural Arts

Weavers Way is partnering with Mural Arts, West Chelten Neighbors Association and Germantown United CDC to create a new mural, Weaving a Bountiful Harvest, located on the side of our Germantown store at 328 W. Chelten Avenue in Spring 2026 by Eurhi Jones.

The Weavers Way Germantown mural celebrates the natural abundance and seasonal rhythms of the Wissahickon landscape, highlighting the interconnected processes that sustain local food and community life. Lush imagery of the “three sisters” crops—corn, beans, and squash—appears alongside pollinators, native plants, and flowing organic forms that evoke growth, renewal, and interdependence. A central loom—modeled after one discovered in the basement of the Germantown Weavers Way store heralds back to the Co-op’s namesake and symbolizes how soil, seeds, seasons, and people are woven together in cooperation. The mural also includes a homage to poet and neighbor Sonia Sanchez, honoring her presence and legacy within the community. Through its vibrant colors and layered natural motifs, the mural offers a joyful portrait of how food, nature, and multigenerational community life are continuously intertwined.

Cooperative Food Fund benefits Members Impacted by Government Shutdown

The Cooperative Food Fund provides weekly grocery credits to Co-op members who are unable to access SNAP, WIC, or TANF benefits during the government shutdown.

The Co-op contributed the first $5,000 to launch the program. This program will continue so long as the Cooperative Food Fund has sufficient funds to meet the demand during the time period in which government benefits are inaccessible.

When benefits are restored, any money left over in the Fund will be used to strengthen the ongoing Food for All discount program, which provides a daily 15% discount to Co-op members experiencing economic hardship and reduces their annual equity investment from $30 to $5.
