Bulk is Beautiful!

Bulk is so simple — and makes so much sense! With every purchase of bulk, you can:

  • Reduce packaging waste - you can shop bulk with reusable containers.
  • Reduce cost - buy only what you need and discover many affordable bulk options.
  • Reduce food waste - need only a pinch of a spice, or a 1/2 cup of a specialty grain? Buying in bulk can help you reduce food waste.

Our bulk departments are big and beautiful. You will find the usual grains and rices, beans and pulses, lots of spices and herbs, in addition to liquid bulk such as local honey, maple syrup, oils and vinegars. If you're looking for the biggest bulk departments, be sure to visit our Mt Airy store (2nd floor) and our Ambler store.

How to Shop Bulk at the Co-op

Bring Your Own Container to Shop Bulk

At Weavers Way, you can bring your own container, purchase a reusable container from us, or use free paper, cellulose and other bags that are free and available in the bulk department.

We encourage the reuse of containers by discounting every bulk purchase that is made with a reusable jar or bag by 25¢! The discount is applied at the register.

How to Shop Bulk

  1. Select your container.
  2. Weigh your container while empty. This is the container's "tare." By weighing the container empty, you avoid paying for the container's weight and instead pay only for the bulk product.
  3. Write that "tare" on your container.
  4. Select your bulk item and fill up your container!
  5. Write the product number on your container. This is also called the "PLU." You'll find this number on the product's shelf tag or on the bulk bin. You can also access the PLU / Product lists below.
  6. Check out at the register with the rest of your groceries.
