Hear from farmers about the journey of the banana from tree to table, and how Equal Exchange is working for a more fair trade system.
Come and meet a founding family of Asoguabo, Equal Exchange’s banana cooperative partner since 2006. Meet with the farmers and learn more about their farming practices from them. They will share an overview of Asoguabo & how/why the co-op began? Their 20-year relationship with Equal Exchange and this family’s experience of transferring the farm from parents to children. What current challenges they are navigating? Hear about the positive impact of being in the banana co-op & of the co-op on the communities. We will be joined by Edgar Ramon, co-founder of Asoguabo & later a doctor in the co-op clinic, Ana Maria Barriga, Edgar’s wife and co-op member, GabrielRamon, son of Edgar & Ana, Stalyn Ramon, co-op member & relative and Antonella Ramon, Stalyn’s daughter and co-op member.
This inperson talk will be hosted in the cafe at Weavers Way Ambler on June 9th from 4-5:30pm. This is free event open to the community. All are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there!
