Our Stores

Our Stores
Are Different

In each of our stores, customers will find all major grocery departments, from produce to packaged grocery. Our retail team works hard to fill our shelves with options, creating a unique mix of organic, natural and some clean conventional products, so that there are a variety of price points on our shelves. Customers will also find that each of our stores have items that reflect the unique neighborhoods that we serve - we do not run "one size fits all stores!" On the other hand, we do not do variable pricing as big retailers do, so items sold at all stores are the same price.

If you have any questions about our products, our staff are knowledgeable and happy to help!

Departments

Our stores have all major grocery departments, including fresh departments like produce, meat and seafood, deli and grab-and-go, as well as bulk, grocery, frozen foods, health, wellness and pet items. Our Ambler, Chestnut Hill and Germantown stores have an assortment of prepared foods and made-to-order sandwiches.

In Mt Airy, where space is tight, our pet and wellness items are located at "Across the Way," which is diagonally across from our main store. Chestnut Hill has its wellness store "Next Door."

Bulk Shopping

At the Co-op, we believe Bulk is Beautiful! You'll find all kinds of items in our bulk departments, from dry goods to liquid goods. Grains, flours, including gluten-free flours, lentils and beans, nuts, honey, maple syrup, oils and vinegars -- and our very popular fresh ground peanut butter. There are also bulk spices, teas and coffees. We welcome shoppers to bring their own reusable container to shop in our bulk departments, or grab a clean one from our free jar library. In return, we'll discount every bulk purchase you make with a reusable container by 25¢!

Product Philosophy

We seek products that benefit our members, shoppers and community. This means we stock products that consider your tastes and also meet the values we have established as a co-op.

Our mission is to supply products that are as healthy as possible and:

  • Positively impact our bodies, the ecosystem or other people in the present or future.
  • Provide opportunities for the improvement of our food system by supporting producers who also care about doing minimal harm to ourselves and the ecosystem.
  • Support our Mission Statement and our Ends.

Local

Nobody sources from more local vendors than the Co-op

At Weavers Way, we define “local” as products produced within about 150 miles of Philadelphia. We work with approximately 300 local vendors! Half of the money we spend on sourcing products to sell go to local vendors.

Weavers Way’s mission is to have a positive impact on the local economy and for that reason we work hard to fill the stores with items made close to home all year long including from our own farms!

Sustainability

Weavers Way has a long history of environmental action, and we continue to seek ways to improve.

We invite community engagement in our sustainability efforts through the Weavers Way Environment Committee (WWEC) and our Plastic Reduction Task Force (PRTF). We work together with Weavers Way administration and staff to make the Co-op sustainable. Learn about about our efforts.

    Shopping Guides

With the help of students in the Jefferson University Masters program in Nutrition, the Co-op has created some handy guides to help you shop the Co-op.

    Heart
    Healthy

When trying to be heart healthy, it’s good to look for foods that are low in sodium and fat and those that are high in omega-3 fatty acids. A heart healthy diet helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and helps maintain healthy blood pressure levels.

    Diabetic
    Menu Guide

It is important to look for foods that are low or zero sugar, high in fiber and low in carbs and calories.

    Anti-Inflammatory

It’s important to look for foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids, fiber and antioxidants to help reduce inflammation. It is also good to look for whole-grain options.
