The Weavers Way Community Fund
Weavers Way Community Fund (WWCF) is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit that aims to improve healthy food access in the communities served by the Co-op. You can support healthy food access in our communities by donating to WWCF!
Contributions to WWCF will directly support the Co-op's healthy food access programs, including Food for All, which provides a 15% discount to Co-op members facing economic hardship. Food For All also reduces the members' equity requirement from $30/year to $5/year. By supporting Food for All, contributors to WWCF will make it possible for the Co-op to sustain this vital resource for community members that seek to purchase healthy and sustainable foods at the Co-op.
Additionally, WWCF helps support the Co-op's community fridge program. Community Fridges provide unrestricted access to donated food all day, every day, no questions asked. The Co-op also has a history of operating its own community fridges. Currently, we are looking forward to re-opening the Ambler Community Fridge in September 2024 at a location near to the Ambler store. (Unfortunately, we had to temporarily shut down the fridge, which was outside of our Ambler store, due to county regulations. Its new location will be compliant with those regulations, which governs where community fridges can be placed.)
Community members can support WWCF in the following ways:
- Round-Up Contributions: Co-op members can enroll in a "Round Up" program in which Co-op transactions are rounded up to the nearest dollar for donation to Food for All. These contributions are tax-deductible. The Co-op will track these donations. Visit the Member Center under “My Donations” to enroll.
- Giving Twosday Support: WWCF will be the beneficiary of the Co-op's "Giving Twosday" throughout the course of the year. Giving Twosdays occur monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at all stores. Giving Twosdays present an opportunity for individuals - both members and non-members alike - to make tax-deductible contributions in support of WWCF at the register.
- Checks made payable to Weavers Way Community Fund. Feel free to drop off a check at any of our stores attn Earl Pearson, Weavers Way Community Fund, 559 Carpenter Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19119. You will receive an acknolwedgment of your contribution for your records.
These initiatives help foster healthy food access and provide avenues for community engagement and support through charitable contributions. We are excited to launch Weavers Way Community Fund and hope you will join us in supporting these initiatives.
