Weavers Way Mercantile Offers a Unique, and Uniquely Sustainable, Holiday Shopping Experience
|
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PHILADELPHIA, PA, Nov. 29, 2016 — With the opening of Weavers Way Mercantile, the Weavers Way Co-op holiday pop-up shop in Mt. Airy, shoppers can buy and give gifts they feel good about. The seasonal marketplace, open through Saturday, Dec. 31, overflows with items chosen for sustainability, functionality and good design, many hand-crafted or locally made. Housekeeping accessories, kitchen tools and urban homesteading supplies provide tons of DIY inspiration for sustainable living. Lovingly organized and beautifully staged in "The Garage" at 542 Carpenter Lane, across the street from the Mt. Airy Co-op, Weavers Way Mercantile also offers a cozy respite from the hustle and bustle, with coffee, tea, music and seating. Weavers Way Mercantile is a collaboration between the Co-op and the LandHealth Institute, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to “Put Nature Back” through environmental education and community-based land revitalization services. Throughout the holiday season, Weavers Way Mercantile will also host Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening workshops run by Weavers Way staff and member volunteers, as well as LandHealth Institute experts. Workshops are listed on the Weavers Way Events Calendar at www.weaversway.coop.
In addition, two Fridays in December, Weavers Way Mercantile will be at the center of a larger celebration of local craftwork, the Mt. Airy Makers Market. On Dec. 2 and 9, from 5 to 9 p.m., two dozen artisans and vendors hosted by the Mercantile and our friends at High Point Cafe will be showing and selling their wares, Carpenter Lane stores will be open late, and live music and festive nibbles will complete the scene. |
