Joe Ochal , is a real scientist with a genuine passion for burning fires safely and cleanly. In this workshop he will share foolproof ways to start a successful wood fire every time in your fireplace or fire pit. He will discuss common causes and solutions for smelly fireplaces and cold air coming down your chimney. He will address the pros & cons of switching to gas from wood burning. And finally he will discuss causes and solutions for wood smoke coming into the room when having a fire. This workshop will be hosted via Zoom on 3/25 at 10:30 am. Joe grew up in Conshohocken and worked his way through school at his uncle’s fireplace showroom. He started the Chimney Scientists while pursuing his master’s degree in Microbiology at Thomas Jefferson University’s College of Biomedical Sciences. He is also an animal lover and lives in Roxborough with his wife Christina and their menagerie of pets.
