Native Plants: A Weavers Way Demonstration Workshop
Native plants are the building blocks of a healthy ecosystem. We can extend the habitat of our local green spaces depending on what we plant in our own gardens. Native plants attract pollinators and act as host plants for caterpillars and other beneficial insects.
Join Weavers Way member and PA master naturalist John Janick, owner of Good Host Plants, to discuss the benefits of promoting native plants in your garden. John will help you begin to identify native vs. non-native plants commonly found in our area, and help you understand the threat invasive plants pose to natural habitats. John will explain what options exist for different light/soil conditions and will demonstrate how to plant a garden bed most successfully, including how to prep the bed for planting, proper techniques for planting, and keys to success throughout the year.
