Weavers Way Nutrition Team Workshop: The Truth About Coffee and Cocoa
With so much conflicting evidence, it can be difficult to discern the truth about whether coffee and cocoa are healthy or not. What is too much coffee? Should you add sweeteners or sugar? But wait, aren't there benefits, too? Are five cups a day too much?
Same with cocoa. Is dark chocolate better than milk chocolate? What is the best portion size — a bite, nibble or a handful?
Weavers Way Neighborhood Nutrition Team member Nicole Schillinger will help dispel the myths and confusions around the health benefits of coffee and cocoa in this workshop. You will have the opportunity to taste-test these treats and learn the different ways to use cocoa. We will also discuss the meaning of Fair Trade and why choosing Fair Trade Certified goods is a positive choice to support responsible companies, empower farmers and workers, and protect the environment!
Nicole has worked as a clinical registered dietitian for more than 10 years in hospitals, nursing homes and assisted-living facilities. She is also a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor. In her private practice, The Functional Health Center, she uses medical nutrition therapy to help individuals with diseases improve the quality of their lives. “It is very gratifying to educate patients,” she says. “I give them tools to adjust their lifestyle, make healthier choices, follow an exercise regimen and feel better about themselves.”
Event is FREE. REGISTER HERE.
