A Moxie Tuesday Workshop: Roots & Root Cellars
With fall in the air, it's time to turn on our ovens and shift our attention to the treasures embedded in the soil-- root vegetables, such as carrots, beets, sweet potatoes, parsnips and other roots that have absorbed the earth’s goodness.
Clinical Nutritionist and herbalist Wendy Romig will talk about methods for cooking with root vegetables as well as some of their amazing nutritional benefits. Wendy will also talk about root cellars, one of the oldest methods of vegetable storage. Admission is free. REGISTER HERE.
Look out for Food Moxie workshops, cooking demos and other food-centric events every Tuesday night! Food Moxie was created by the Board of Directors of the Weavers Way Cooperative Association in 2007 as a means to actively promote the health and well-being of the community in which it operates, and offer direct support to Philadelphia families in need. In the years since, Food Moxie has become an independent nonprofit organization, offering a unique range of farm, nutrition, and culinary education programs, positively impacting the lives of thousands of children and families in Northwest Philadelphia and beyond.
