Weavers Way Co-op, Now With Three Locations!
Weavers Way Chestnut Hill is now open, 7 - 8 Mon. - Sat. and 9 - 8 on Sundays. We now have three great locations to serve you. Our Chestnut Hill store offers an expanded bulk section, a vast selection of prepared foods, and more organic products. Our Mt. Airy store has a large non-foods department on the second floor and, just across the street, an entire store filled with Northwest Philadelphia’s largest selection of natural pet foods and supplies. And our Ogontz store offers many of the great products you will find in our other stores, plus made-to-order smoothies and a superfast checkout that will get you on your way in a hurry. There is something for everyone at each of our three locations!
5th Annual Urban Farm Bike Ride! Two new rides this year: one for beginners, one for more experienced riders. 8 new farms on the tour. Starts in Kensington this year, and ends with barbecue and beer at the Weavers Way Coop Farm. Click here for details and to register.

Weavers Way Gift Cards

Weavers Way Gift Cards are easy to buy and easy to use. You can buy them in any amount you choose, from any of our stores, or right from home. Click HERE for more.
We love our banks, but...

We love our banks. We really, really do. We couldn’t have opened our new store without our banks, and we don’t mind paying them interest. But we’d rather pay you, our members. That's why we are asking members to add $400 to their member equity accounts for five years, and in return, we will give them a $100 discount card, redeemable at the cash register right now. Click HERE for more details.
Local Apples are Back!

It might still be the middle of summer, but that doesn't mean we can't have delicious local apples. Beechwood Orchard, who has been supplying us with some of the great peaches, apricots and nectarines. We have been enjoying this summer. Rambo’s are tart, great for cooking and apple sauce. Ginger Golds are tart-sweet and great for munching. We’ll be seeing more and more local apples as summer winds down, but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of great stone-fruit coming at you!
Co-op Sponsoring Blood Drive, Sept. 1
Weavers Way is sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Free Library of Philadelphia Chestnut Hill branch, 8711 Germantown Avenue. During the summer, blood donations drop dramatically (vacations, plus the RC gets 25% of its donations from visiting colleges during the school term) so we can make a big impact by getting a large turnout. Weavers Way members will receive a $10 gift card to the co-op as a thank you for giving blood during this critical time of year. If you are interested in signing up for a spot, contact Jon Roesser at the Co-op, 215-843-2350, ext 132, or e-mail hr@weaversway.coop.

The National Cooperative Grocers Association (NCGA) kicks off its second annual “My Co-op Rocks” video contest this September, asking co-op members, shoppers and staff across the country to submit short, up-to-two-minute videos sharing all the reasons their co-op rocks. Submissions will be accepted online Sept. 1 through Sept. 30 at www.MyCoopRocks.coop with $3,000 in prizes—including two new Apple iPads—to be awarded to the best videos in “People’s Choice” and “Judges’ Choice” categories. Voting will be extended from Oct. 1 through Oct. 15. For the official rules or to enter the contest, sponsored by Equal Exchange and Frontier Natural Products Co-op, which is sponsored by www.MyCoopRocks.coop.
The Electronic Exchange
The Electronic Exchange arrives at the Co-op’s “Member’s Room” at 555 Carpenter. A previous e-exchange had been located on the second floor of the main floor, until forced to move in order to free up more space for commercial products. The new electronic exchange is located on the bottom two shelves of the bookcase in the room. You may donate CDs, DVDs, videos, and tapes and leave them at the drop-off shelves. You may also leave with items donated by others. But there will be no room for any donations of printed material. Those may possibly be donated and exchanged through a future book exchange and conversation corner in the same location.
